Stephanie Galloway Brown is a New Zealand born Australian award winning painter. Selected as a finalist for the 2024 Archibald Prize and the Portia Geach Memorial Award People’s Choice award winner 2024. She has specialised in painting portraits and worked from commissions for over 20 years. Stephanie also paints a diverse range of subjects including still life, interiors, urban and coastal landscapes often exploring our mundane everyday encounters. Painting in a contemporary realistic style in oils and often beeswax she uses a vibrant rich colour palette, building up layered textures and embracing imperfections. She strives to make work that embodies a sense of calm, nostalgia and quiet contemplation, offering viewers a peaceful escape from our frenetic fast paced lives
